2-Days post op - 8/14/22

I am home: running a fever, the on call Dr. Said my body is likely in shock and it will take a couple of days for my temp to normalize. Just watch for infection at the wound site.  Do my breathing exercises to prevent pneumonia and blood clots. Oh man did I underestimate the pain and the help I need to just get out of bed. Shout out to my care team, Tim, Mom and Dad. It’s going to be a lot of care for the first week I assume. I can’t tolerate sitting in a chair for any length of time, but am up taking frequent walks with the walker in my room. Showered today that felt amazing but again can’t do most of it on my own.

Please keep the prayers coming for healing and to gain a little more independence.

Surgery Day - 8/12/22

I want to thank everyone for the kind words and prayers. I've been in far too much pain to even look at my phone today. Thankfully, tonight we've changed some things around and the doctor is trying to get my pain under control.

Crying while just going to the restroom is pretty awful.

My fusion went as planned. They used a Neuro transmitter during surgery to detect nerve issues. My left side is significantly more affected which makes sense since that's where my pain stems from. The fusion hardware from 2014 was removed and the new fusion hardware was successfully put in. I've got significantly more arthritis than someone my age should have, per Dr. Chen. I'm sure all of this has to do with being premature.

Thank you again for thoughts and prayers.
